Alright! You made it gorgeous. You are done with 2015. What are the blessings you want to invite in 2016?
Here are my four most powerful tools to welcome your best year yet.
1. Gratitude. Yes, gratitude is always my first tool. Whatever happened and no matter what 2015 brought you my dear friend I’m sure there are plenty of things to be grateful for. Think about lessons, golden nuggets, recognition, growth in relationships, new friends, partner, mentors, abundance, health, and unexpected support. This is why I don’t rush to set my intentions. I make sure I look at everything that happened and how that supported in my personal growth, development and happiness.
2. Identify how do you want to feel. This is inspired by the work of Danielle Laporte, the Desire Map. We simply ask how we want to feel, before setting any goal. The list can be long, but ideally we want to come down to three to five. This year I want to feel relaxed, abundant, joyful, and connected.
3. Let go. I always like to ask myself “For me to experience these feelings what do I need to let go? What is no longer serving me?” Usually the answer is the first intuitive hit we get. For some could be limiting beliefs, unhealthy life style, draining relationships, unfulfilling jobs. Sometimes letting go is the hardest part, but I promise it’s worth (BTW, here is where a coach can be of so much help!)
4. Choose your word. This is one special word that summarizes the core desired feelings and set an intention for the New Year. It represents one area where you can experience growth and development that embraces your deepest desires and provides a frame to prioritize your choices and decisions during the year.
My word last year was BIRTH and you know pretty much the story. This year I’m embracing CONNECTION. I feel it is such beautiful word. According to Tony Robins this is one of the four basic needs of every human being (certainty, uncertainty, significance and love-connection). To me connection is a multidirectional word. I long more connection with above, with Spirit and Universe, and below, to mother Earth and Nature. I also want to explore more connection with my immediate loves, my husband and my son. Now with the little one joining us the relationship evolves and connection is redefined and regained ;-) At the same time this is such a precious time to deepen my connection with my baby. He’s constantly learning, growing and exploring, and I deeply desire to be there for him, to nurture and love him all the way! In addition, I desire connection with colleagues, mentors and mentees. So I’m asking how could I better support them, how could I show gratitude for my mentors, how can I support my colleagues, how can I best serve my purpose and my mentees? In this big picture, the flow will be so natural that money (a form of energy) will organically flow too, bringing abundance. This also provides the frame for prioritizing. For example for me this year since connection is so key, I will minimize my hours away from family and will leverage my hours, meaning, I will have to decide where I get the most out of my time, so I can spend more quality time focusing in connection.
As you can see all of these reflections eventually shine their light into a unique way of living that is fully aligned with your Soul desires. This is to me real success.
How about you? See if these tools help you set intentions in the New Year(and even during the year! It's never too late to start ;-) and prioritize your projects. Let me know how it works for you.
What is your word?
I hope you can find some inspiration in this blog as you jump into this white canvas, fertile soil that is this New Year.
